The Most Eco-Chic Fundraiser in Miami

Oops, ECOMB did it again. For the second year in a row, the Environmental Coalition of Miami & the Beaches gathered an eco-chic crowd and honored Emerald City Awardees at its fundraising gala, the “GreenRaiser.” Nearly 200 fashionistas and environmental activists gathered on July 31 at the Mondrian South Beach to celebrate and support green living. Luiz Rodrigues, the executive director of ECOMB, pulled the veil from ECOMB’s new plans for its Miami Beach Center for the Environment. Another highlight honored excellence in green leadership. The two business category winners were Whole Foods Market South Beach and Deco Bike, and the individual winners were environmental reporter Jeff Burnside and the Executive Director of the Urban Paradise Guild, Sam Van Leer. Congratulations to those winners, and thank you supporters of ECOMB! See you next year at the third GreenRaiser.

Twenty-Seven save on the 27th! The first 27 people to purchase tickets this Friday starting at 12:01 am will be eligible for a $18 discount on the GreenRaiser for ECOMB, being held on July 31 at the Mondrian South Beach. After those 27 tickets are purchased for $57, the price goes back to $75. Member tickets are $50, and VIP tickets are $200 per couple.

New Miami Environmental Center Reveal A new environmental center in the heart of South Beach will be revealed for the first time at an eco-chic event on July 31. The plans will show how residents and tourists walking to the beach could stumble upon a showcase of the natural ecosystems that draw them here and form the basis of the area’s economy. You can contribute to raising this new green roof by attending the “GreenRaiser” of the Environmental Coalition of Miami and the Beaches (ECOMB). Tickets to the event can be purchased on ECOMB’s website at http://ecomb.org.  This second annual event draws the crowd that believes in “acting locally” to protect the environment, and four local honorees will be receiving the Emerald City Award: Whole Foods Market, Deco Bike, the head of the Urban Paradise Guild, Sam Van Leer, and Florida’s premier environmental broadcaster, Jeff Burnside. The event at the Mondrian South Beach launches at 7 pm and includes complimentary cocktails by VeeV, the world’s first carbon-nuetral liquor, sustainable food, raffles, and a silent auction featuring an electric scooter.
